Focus on Health

One of our church's near term goals is to “Improving all facets of our personal and church health that we may more fully share our resources and offer help, hope, and healing in our community and the world.” With that in mind, the Christian Formation Team is offering some faith-focused, healthy living classes (see below).

Current Opportunities:

Boundaries: Wednesdays at 6:30pm (meets in the Parlor)

When to Say Yes, How to Say No, to take Control of Your Life. Having clear boundaries is essential to a healthy, balanced lifestyle, and define who we are and who we are not. Based on the bestselling book from Dr. Henry Cloud and John Town, this video series offers biblically-based answers to life’s tough questions, showing us how to set healthy boundaries with our parents, spouses, children, friends, co-workers, and even ourselves. First Place 4 Health: New Class begins Spring of 2012

Deciding to love God with emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual wholeness can be the beginning of your journey to successful weight loss! You will also learn to overcome fatigue, develop a greater intimacy with God, and enjoy a healthy, vibrant lifestyle. First Place 4 Health is a small group experience with the goal of experiencing genuine community as we learn together to balance these four core areas of life. The class, offered to both men and women, is offered in three 12-week segments.

Good Grief: Tuesdays at 6:30pm (meets off-site. Call for more info)

Each of us experience loss. Whether mourning the death of a loved one, the end of a marriage, the loss of a job, or other difficult life changes, we all must work through the grief that is a natural reaction to loss and change. This class offers valuable insights on the various responses experienced during grief while providing an atmosphere of healing through mutual support and understanding. Facilitated by Dr. John Oldham.

NA (Narcotics Anonymous): Fridays - 7:00-9:00pm (ongoing group)
Narcotics Anonymous is a non-profit fellowship of men and women for whom drugs have become a major problem. A gathering of recovering addicts who meet regularly to help each other stay clean using the Twelve Step program. There are no dues or fees. The only requirement is the desire to stop using. As the name implies, group meetings are anonymous in nature as members only use their first names. Click here for the national Narcotics Anonymous web-site.
