The word discipleship and the word discipline are from the same root word. In the spiritual life, the word discipline means "the effort to create some space in which God can act." The great irony in our world today is that we are a people who are so filled yet unfulfilled, so busy yet disconnected, so crowded, yet so lonely at the same time. The call to the spiritual life is a call to disciplined relationship -- the intention to create room for God, for each other, and for a world in need. It is in these relationships that we find LIFE!
We invite each and every person ay Hixson UMC to “create room for life” by joining a small group or Bible Study; not as just another activity on your list, but as something that offers life and meaning to everything else on your list. Joining a small group or study helps us put the LIFE back in living and make room for what we were created for – life abundant in Christ!
