Womens Ministry
The vision of this ministry is to love women into a relationship with Jesus Christ by offering opportunities for spiritual growth and service, while developing authentic relationships. Hixson UMC's women's ministry is also a way to bring all of the existing women’s programs together under one umbrella, so that we can work together to grow in Christ and to glorify Him. Some of our activities are going to be fun and light hearted, and some are going to be more spiritually enriching. Current Women's Ministry Opportunities:
Women’s Bible Study: Tuesdays at 10:00am or Sundays at 5:00pm
New study beginning September 7 and 12 - Faithful, Abundant and True. God is Faithful. His provision is abundant. His promises are true. Join Kay Arthur, Priscilla Shirer and Beth Moore offer a unique blend of inspiration and teaching through video. While these three women each speak on the distinctive topic the Holy Spirit has lead them to teach, the messages result in a marvelous blend.
Teen M.O.P.S. (Mothers of Pre-Schoolers): Mondays from 6:00-7:30pm (Friendship House)
Teen MOPS is dedicated to the support of teen mothers of preschoolers, regardless of their background, religious beliefs, or current lifestyle. Our goal is to help teen mothers develop as strong, confident young women and mothers. Young mothers have an opportunity to grow with other young mothers in similar situations in a safe, non-judgmental environment. Group leaders are older women who serve as mentors and friends, based on their own experience as women and mothers. Click here for information.
Knitting, Quilting & Crochet: Wednesdays from 6:30-7:30pm (Fellowship Hall)
Relax with friends who love to Knit, Quilt and crochet. Made up of both beginners and those with years of experience, this group enjoys spending time together, sharing patterns and talking about life. Additionally, many in the group have started a Prayer Shawl Ministry making shawls as gifts of comfort and support for various ministries in our congregation.
Moms In Touch: Fridays from 8:15-9:15am (Conference Room)
This group began a number of years ago when a group of moms, each having school-age children, wanted to gather together to pray for their children and for our schools. Even though most of the children are now out of school, the moms continue to meet to pray for their children, their teachers, and their schools in our community.
Women's Softball: Team forms each April and play through July
Each spring women eighteen and older are invited to join the Hixson UMC Women's softball team. Games begin in May and continue through June with the end of the season tournament in July. Women's softball is a great opportunity for women to get together and play the sport in a fun league with other churches in the area. Games are played at Dupont Fields in Hixson.
